The time of 1:30 AM is significant throughout The Machinist. Christian Bale’s Trevor often notices something out of the ordinary at this time. During the 1 hour 30 minute mark in the movie, the major plot twist is revealed (x).
I loved and hated The Machihnist—because I thought it was fantastic and I wanted to see more films in a similar vein, and because it made me want to have my teeth knocked out and my blood all over the floor. That desire for destruction, though, that’s how I feel when I read Palahniuk—it’s a good sign.
